“Two of my friends and I, all in I Am Second, play varsity soccer and will be seniors next year. We decided to hand out Life Books to all the younger girls in the soccer program, which is about 30 girls. We wrote personal notes to each one inside of them and got them together at the end of practice Thursday to hand them out. We told them how we want to be good role models for them, unlike the older soccer girls before us who weren’t the best influences. We talked to them about their faith, making good choices, surrounding themselves with the right people, and that if they ever needed anything we would always be there for them, even though we don’t know them all too well. We also invited them to I Am Second on Friday, and a couple of them actually came for the first time, including our coach! Probably the best part about it though was the fact that many of the girls came up after practice and personally thanked me for what I had said. Some of them even asked me for more Life Books for them to hand out! It was a great experience and even though it wasn’t the easiest thing to make a speech about, I’m so thankful i had the opporunity to make a difference in my school through The Life Book Movement.
