Science’s One Question

This summer, my 10 year old son attended Jedi camp at the Space Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Personally, I’m not a Star Wars kind of guy, but as we toured the Jedi Experience on his graduation day, the displays of original models used in the films and descriptions of other worlds caught my attention. But more than anything, I was intrigued as displays shared about our human quest to create technologies that would make it possible for space travel of the kind imagined in the Star Wars series.

In the context of engineers describing the seemingly impossible technologies we would need to develop to match what was shown in Star Wars, I settled in on one question that defines the quest for discovery in science.

Scientists in all fields work hard to answer one question:

HOW DOES HE DO IT?

How does God do it? How does He make light go so fast? How does He guide the stars and galaxies? How does He create life? How does He sustain life? How does it all work? How does He…..?

As technologically advanced as we are, we have mere simple toys compared to the majesty, complexity and transcendence of the technologies God creates with one Word.

HOW DOES HE DO IT?

We aren’t even in the same galaxy.

To God be ALL the glory!
